We, the staff at GSF, are thankful for every brother and sister the Lord leads here to serve as a short term volunteer. We believe the Lord is sending you here to serve and love him and his children; it is our goal to help your experience go smoothly and give you the tools and encouragement to do the Lord’s work. In order to optimize your time here, we would like to obtain the following information from you one month prior to your arrival. Please consider the information carefully and maintain copies for your records. We look forward to your arrival!

Information to consider before your arrival

1. Develop a list of objectives for your time at the orphanage. Consider the gifts and talents the Lord has given you, as well as the vision the Lord has given you for how he would like for you to spend your time. We will prayerfully review and consider your objectives and talents and discuss, upon your arrival, how we see you being able to meet some of the needs of our organization. Flexibility is essential here and we need you to come ready to be stretched!
   
2. We would like for you to understand that though the atmosphere here can seem slow and it is easy to stay up late, sleep late, and take the much needed vacation we all desire, you are here to serve the Lord, not yourself. If you see something that needs to be done, cleaned, played with, fixed, or someone to be encouraged, seek permission and by all means do it! We require our short term missionaries to commit to at least an 8 hour work day with one day off per week. We expect you to daily clean up the guest house, including the kitchen, bedrooms, and bathroom. We will gladly review the cleaning process upon your arrival, if necessary.
