Wayne and Bonnie Sue, both born-again believers in Jesus Christ, were married in December,
1984. They wanted their life together to have meaning and a ministry. They felt God was
calling them to the ministry of adoption of children in need. Over the course of their
marriage while living in the U.S., they adopted a total of nine children, many of whom
are special-needs and foreign born. During this time, they boarded two Ugandan girls for a
period of five years. Their father, who came to visit them, told the Walkers of the many
orphans in Uganda, of the destructive war, Aids, poverty and the many problems plaguing
Uganda. In January of 1990, the Walkers made a trip to Uganda and Kenya. They returned and
believed that God was calling them to serve in the needy country of Uganda.
In March, 1990, Global Outreach International approved the Walkers as duly appointed
missionaries to serve in Uganda. However, God had a temporary delay, keeping them in the
U.S. for 4 more years, adding six more orphans to their family. Finally, in March, 1994,
they and 8 of their adopted children moved to Uganda and soon settled in the town of Jinja,
where they started Good Shepherd’s Fold. God quickly began bringing needy children and
orphans in their care. They relocated to a little village called Wairaka and there the two
story building became the home to approximately 180 children by 1998.
After two years in the ministry the Lord gave the Walkers a vision of having their own land
and duplex housing so the children could be in family groups with Ugandan foster moms.
The Walkers and the children fasted and prayed once and sometimes twice a week.
God finally answered their prayers by bringing Samaritan's Purse into the picture.
They donated not only funding to purchase 115 acres of fertile land but also to build 5 duplexes.
In October, 2000, the Walkers along with 220 children moved onto the beautiful land in Buundo,
15 miles outside Jinja. The children marched onto the land claiming it for God with a little girl
named Faith leading the way. The children soon settled, crops began growing, a general kitchen and
multi-purpose building used for school and church were added.
As all this transpired, the Walkers dealt more and more with the administration and had less
one-on-one relationships with the children which they had so enjoyed. In June 2002, after much
prayer and soul-searching, the Walkers felt they had accomplished what God had called them to
do and believed God was calling them to start a ministry for orphans in Southeast Asia.
The Walkers are currently serving in Chiang Mai, Thailand and have started a small children’s
home there. They adopted three other children from Uganda and are now in the process of adopting
a little Thai boy who was abandoned; he will be the 13th adoption. They still miss Uganda and all
the children they left. Uganda will always be in their hearts.

Good Shepherd’s Fold is a work in progress and has been blessed mightily by the Lord.
He is growing GSF to be an excellent place to instill His love into children who otherwise
would be cast aside. Currently GSF is under the leadership of Bob & Carolyn Jacobsen and it
continues to expand and reach out to not only more children but the surrounding villages
through our Primary School, clinic, chapel and farm.
The vision of GSF remains the same through the many changes and we believe it will continue to
be an oasis of God’s light in an otherwise very dark place.
